How to set up metric alerts for Investors

Set-up metric alerts to get notified when a company's metric meets certain criteria.

Metric alerts is a helpful tool to let you know if you should step in to provide more hands-on support to a company or congratulate them on their success. Either way, metric alerts enable you to be a successful hands-on investor.

This is an advanced feature that is available to only Premium & Enterprise plans. If you have access to the metric alert feature, you will find under Monitoring on your navigation menu.


Step One: Click Metric Alerts under the Monitoring use-case in the navigation menu. Then click +New Alert.


First navigate to Metric alerts and then select +New Alert at the top right of your screen.


Step Two: Name your Metric Alert.


Provide a name for your metric alert.


Step Three: Choose if your metric should be based on a % change or a Fixed number.


Decide if the metric alert should be created based on a metric changing by a % or if you should be a alerted by a metric being a fixed number.


Step Four: Choose the Metric you are creating the notification for.


Select the Metric that you need the notification for. Please note that you can also create a metric alert based on a Metric insight.


Step Five: Choose the criteria for the Metric alert.


Designate the criteria for the Metric alert. For Fixed number metric alerts, you'll see the interface above.


Step Six: Under Alert options, choose which teammates should be notified.


Select which teammates should receive notifications under the Alert options. You'll also see an example of what the notification will look like.


Step Seven: Save your Metric alert.


Click Save to save your Metric alert.

Step Eight: View your Alerts Log.


Once a portfolio company has met the specific criteria of your Metric alert, the notification will appear in the Alerts log.

Some of the recommended alerts include:

  • Fixed Number: Runway < 6 months

  • Percentage change: Revenue % change of 40%

  • Compare to metric: Revenue > Expenses
