How to Download a Data Room Index

This feature allows users to download a structured index as a text file directly from the data room, and share it with investors or teammates for quick reference.

This feature is available in-app from the data room view and is available in publicly shared data rooms that have downloads enabled.

Downloading a Data Room Index (In-App)

Navigate to your Data Room. Then click the three dots at the top right side of of the page & click Download index.

Click into your data room from the navigation menu. Then click the three dots at the top right side of your screen and select Download Index.


Once the File is ready, click Download file.


Click Download file.

Then open the Index file and use it as needed.


Open the Index file and reference it as needed.

Downloading a Data Room Index (Shared Data Room)

When a Data Room has downloads enabled, viewers can download the index.

Viewers can click Download index at the top right side of their screen.

What the Index File Contains

The downloaded file is a plain text file (.txt) that lists every folder and file in your data room in a structured, hierarchical format. It reflects the current state of your data room at the time of download.

You can use this file to:

  • Quickly review what is included in your data room before sharing it

  • Send a lightweight summary to an investor or stakeholder ahead of a meeting

  • Keep an offline record of your data room structure
