How Founders can use the MCP Server to Manage Notes

This article walks through how founders can use the Visible MCP server to read, create, and update notes on contacts & investors.

Written by Nick Kramer

The Visible MCP server allows you to connect your AI tool of choice to your Visible account. This workflow is designed to:

  • Read existing notes on contacts, investors, and portfolio companies

  • Create new notes from AI-generated summaries or your own input

  • Update notes you've already saved

Step One: Connect your Visible account to your AI tool of choice.

The Visible MCP server is available for AI solutions that allow for MCP connectors and apps; you will need to have admin or editor permissions to connect to the MCP server.

This specific article will walk through using the Visible MCP server with Claude, but below are the resources that walk through the steps to connect Visible to your AI solution of choice:

Step Two: Read existing notes.

Ask your AI tool to pull up existing notes on a contact, investor, or portfolio company. This is helpful for prepping for a meeting or reviewing recent context before reaching out.

Example prompts:

  • "Show me all the notes I've added to Acme Capital in the past 30 days."

  • "Pull up the most recent note on my contact Jane Doe."

  • "Review my notes across all investors in my Seed Round pipeline and summarize the common themes."

Step Three: Create new notes.

Ask your AI tool to create a note on a contact, investor, or portfolio company. This is especially useful for capturing meeting recaps right after a call.

Example prompts:

  • "Add a note to my contact Jane Doe summarizing our intro call today."

  • "Create a note on Acme Capital with the follow-up items we agreed to."

Step Four: Update existing notes.

Ask your AI tool to update an existing note. Useful when you need to add follow-up items or correct details after the fact.

Example prompts:

  • "Update the most recent note on Acme Capital to include the follow-up items we discussed."

  • "Add a line to my last note on Jane Doe noting that she requested our latest deck."

Step Five: Navigate to Visible to see the new or updated notes.

Go back to Visible to review the notes created or updated through the MCP connection.
