How to create Portfolio Metrics

Creating portfolio metrics in Visible's Metric Library

Portfolio metrics make it easy to track time series data in your Visible account. They are completely customizable, which means you can track any desired data. These metrics can be used throughout the rest of the app in places like portfolio reports and dashboards.

How to create a single portfolio metric

To start, click metrics in the bottom left section of your screen. Next, click portfolio metrics in the left side panel.


Next, click +New portfolio metric in the top right of your screen.


Customize the metric by adding a name, description, category, frequency, unit & format, aggregation, and the companies to track.


To assign the metric to certain companies, turn off the toggle next to "track this metric for all my portfolio companies" and click +add companies.


From here, you can choose which companies you'd like to track the metric for by clicking the plus next to a company's name or by clicking the drop-down and picking a segment. Click apply once done.


Click create at the bottom of the page to finish creating the metric.


Congrats! You've created a new portfolio metric.

How to create multiple portfolio metrics

From the portfolio metrics section of your account, click the three dots in the top right followed by +Add multiple metrics.


Enter metric names separated by a comma or a new line. Next, choose a category, aggregation, frequency, unit & format, and which companies you'd like to track the metric for. You can edit these settings on the following page.

Click next to continue creating multiple metrics.


Click in-line to edit the name, frequency, category, aggregation, unit, or format.


To bulk edit settings, select the check box next to a metric's name followed by edit settings. Note that you can also choose to delete any metrics by clicking delete.


If you click edit, you can change the category, aggregation, frequency, unit & format, and association for the group of metrics. Click apply changes when done editing the settings.


You'll see the respective settings updated in the summary view. If you'd like to create an entirely new metric from this view, click +add row beneath the list of metrics.


Click confirm & create once done editing the settings.


Click add metrics to finish creating the metrics.


You'll see the newly created metrics shown in the respective category.


Congrats! You've just created multiple metrics.
